主題介紹
菜鳥請注意!這些職場地雷不要踩 Rookies beware. The Dos and Don’ts at a new Work Place

課程簡介
不管你是剛畢業的職場新鮮人還是要轉換跑道的人,到了一個新的工作環境,與新的主管、同事相處,身為「菜鳥」的你該如何在一個新的環境適應生存,本課程將分成四個主題教你避開這些職場大地雷!

1. Common workplace mistakes to avoid
ex. 謠言止於智者,剛到一個工作的新環境中萬一聽到同事在八卦也不要散佈那些沒有證實的小道消息,沒有人喜歡被別人在背後說閒話。你必須謙虛一些,不要太自大太過於自信,更不要將別人的功勞也攔到自己身上。

2. Common workplace mistakes
ex. 工作中的e-mail非常重要不能草率的填寫,Jason老師將舉幾個Email例子並且教你如何正確寫一封Email。也不要在工作場合中做自己私人的事情,像是上網玩遊戲、看電影或是跟朋友聊LINE等等。

3. Recovering from a disaster
ex. 真的不小心犯下錯誤時,可能是以上提到的常見錯誤,首先拿出真誠的心,在該道歉的時候道歉,並且面對、調整自己犯的錯誤,千萬不要固執或拉不下臉,並沒有人是完美地所以不要擔心。

4. Things you should do in a new working environment
ex. 不要害羞要勇於發問,不要擔心別人會覺得你很笨,通常會感覺你很認真、勤學向上,並且對這份工作充滿熱情和好奇心。在不同的職場中要穿正確的服裝,如果你是老師就要穿得像一個老師;是一位醫生就要穿得像醫生。

As an ESL teacher that has been working in the industry for the past eight years, I have honed my craft and learned from my experience just what students need from their classes. From what I have observed, the common English education in Taiwan suffers from mundane repetition, error in the order of skills that are taught, and a lack of conversational practice.
Let me elaborate.
It is no secret to anyone in Taiwan that most people spend a majority of their younger lives here learning English, perhaps from a very young age, but ultimately never quite pick up the ability to communicate effectively with others when needed. This is due to the fact that people never considered learning a second language as if it is their first.
For example, how would a young child, a toddler, learn to speak his/her native tongue? They mimic and copy what their parents say, or learn from their nanny. But do we as teachers want to teach toddlers English grammar and force them to memorize vocabularies, much like how students learn English in most of Asia? The answer is of course not. If a toddler can pick up a language at a blazing fast speed without vocabulary and grammar lessons, so should teenagers and adults.
I always tell my students that the most important aspect of learning English comes by learning how to speak first. Once you’ve become comfortable with conversing with others, you may start taking lessons in phonics, grammar, spelling, and eventually reading and writing. Why do we do this? Because conversations take up the majority of human interaction.
Do not give into social pressure! You may have been lead to believe your whole life that your English isn’t good enough unless you’ve passed enough tests, graduated from a foreign university, or have travelled to a dozen of countries. The truth is no one will actually take your English seriously until you’re able to speak to others with it, so speak out my friends!
